About Diligent Safety Consulting...

Neil was involved with the introduction of WHS model laws into the Northern Territory in 2011 and more recently the drafting of industrial manslaughter laws. As the Director of Operations with NT WorkSafe, he performed a leadership role with investigations into serious workplace incidents, including a number that resulted in prosecution.

Neil has Tertiary Qualifications in WHS, Government Investigations and Business Management. His practical understanding, knowledge and experience with application of WHS, especially from a regulator perspective, is amongst the best in Australia. Neil has an in depth understanding of what the regulator will be looking for, how investigations will be prioritised and what the relevant enforcement outcomes may be. He has a working knowledge of the jurisdictional overlap between the many regulators and has relationships with many including Commonwealth authorities such as AMSA and Comcare.

Enforceable undertakings are an alternate outcome to prosecution resulting in safety improvements in the workplace, industry and community. Neil has an in-depth knowledge of the enforceable undertaking process and understands what is expected in an application, including what would be considered as exceptional circumstances.

Neil is a passionate supporter of educating Work Health and Safety to Business and has worked with wide variety of industries to achieve safe and compliant workplaces.

Neil is currently appointed as the WHS Advisor for the Northern Territory Chamber of Commerce. 

In December 2020 Neil was inducted into the Australian Institute of Health and Safety College of Fellows.

 

The College of Fellows was established in 2002 and comprises those members who are Fellows and Honorary Fellows of the Institute. As a senior network of the Institute, the College works to support the Institute’s vision, values and strategy.

Membership of the College recognises OHS/WHS professionals who are making a substantial ongoing contribution to and have a record of achievement in the field. Fellows are committed members of the Institute and leaders within the profession.
